Featured Image Size Cap?

I’m trying to create a template for posts’ featured image, but I’m struggling to get the latest post’s feature image to not get all blurry on my homepage. When I look at my website on my monitor, the featured imaged is 1140×512. I’ve tried uploading media at that image size and larger, but no matter what size I upload, the image that’s selected is a 850×382 copy of the image and it’s then stretched to 1140×512 and thus looks blurry. When I shrink my browser window and the featured images are resized to smaller sizes, they look fine, but when I have my browser window maximized I wind up with a less than ideal looking featured image for my latest post. Is there anyway to get the post featured images above 850×382 on my homepage?

For reference I’m using the Franz Josef theme and here’s my homepage URL: http://islaythedragon.com/IHPNPTESTING/

    Thanks for your time!

    Hi Dakaran,

We’re aware of this issue and has already implemented a fix, which will be included in the next update.

Great, thanks Syahir! Do you have any idea when that update would go live?

We’re looking at some time next week. It’ll be quite a major update with a few important fixes and feature improvements.

What is the optimal image size the ‘featured image’ should be in order to eliminate the shrink/streching that is going on?

Also has this update been rolled out yet?

    Thanks!

As mentioned my Dakaran above, make sure your featured image is at least 1140 pixels wide.

We have submitted the update to WordPress.org and it has been reviewed and approved, so now it’s just waiting to be made live. We expect this will be in the next few days.
