Error with theme

Hi! I just started getting this error on the bottom of my blog: Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/amy127/public_html/whatjewwannaeat.com/wp-content/themes/graphene/footer.php on line 19

I didn’t have it yesterday. And now none of my plugins or sidebar (contact, about me, etc) are showing up. Can you please help? When I try other themes the error goes away and my host thinks it is a theme issue.

Line 19 is part of the code that calls the sidebar.php file, so I have to wonder if you have you recently made any changes to the plugins in your sidebar?

If not, and you are using some sort of script from a third party in one of your sidebar widgets, it’s possible that their code has changed to something that is incompatible with Graphene. You might want to try disabling any widget of that type one at a time to see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks. I haven’t changed anything on my blog so I will try to play with the plugins to see if this helps. Is this also why my facebook likes is missing?

If it’s in the sidebar, then yup, that’s why. The only other thing I can think of is that your footer.php file became corrupted somehow. It’s the ‘somehow’ that bothers me.

It could be that a third-party code changed, however. Try disabling any of those first to see what happens.

    Hi Kenneth,

I tried disabling all the plugins and nothing worked. Should I have my host restore my blog from a backup version? Is there anything else I can try to remove the code?

Or, should I ask a professional to remove the code? This happened once before and my host removed it. Thanks!

I see you mentioned in your blog that your site was hacked?? What were the details here?

Have you tried replacing the footer.php file with a fresh one?

I’m not sure if it was hacked but basically all my content, photos and backups were cleared and neither I nor my host know why. How do I replace the footer? My host replaced my site with a backup from the other day and the error is gone now but the plugins on the right are still gone. They are looking into it as well.

Right now, your footer is gone entirely, which is why neither it nor your sidebar is appearing. I also noticed a lot of photos are missing from page 2.

Do you have FTP access to your site?

Darn maybe my host removed it. I was able to get my content back but not my photos so I have to add those back in by hand after I was hacked. I do not think I have FTP access that I know of. I go on WordPress and the cpanel
