    Hi there, I Just started using Graphene and need a bit of help.

    I have a parent page: http://www.imcguide.com/ironman-canada-athlete-guide/ currently displaying six child pages.

    Graphene is pulling the first 4 – 5 lines of text from each child page and displaying it as a summary, I’d love to be able to overwrite that text with something custom. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

    Cory

    Hi,

    Try going to the child page and below the editor is a box for the “excerpt”. Type your custom content here, and it should display in the screenshot you provided.

    Let us know if you get stuck along the way.

    Worked perfectly!

    I had to grab a plugin (PJW Page Excerpt) to add excerpts to my pages. Once I activated that plugin and added an excerpt it instantly appeared on my child pages.

    Thanks for your help Josh!

    Hmmm… I’m not sure you need a plugin.

    If you didn’t see the “excerpt” box on your page edit screen, you might have needed to click the “screen options” button located near the upper left of the screen while on the editor page. Then, make sure “excerpt” is enabled.

    But… if it works, it works, right?!

    Pages don’t have custom excerpt by default, but it’s quite easy to add either using a plugin or just a few lines in a child theme’s functions.php file:

    <?php
    function my_custom_init() {
    add_post_type_support( 'page', 'excerpt' );
    }
    add_action( 'init', 'my_custom_init' );
    ?>

    That’s right… I remember doing that now. I really need to make a child theme functions cheat sheet or something similar. Perhaps we can begin a wiki section for such a purpose?
