I have tried everything I know and I cannot customize the header. I used to be able to click on header and it would give me a full page customizing page to upload a header image. Now, I get this little 2 or 3 inch block on the left side of the page to customize the theme. If I click on anything to make a change the options are all loaded underneath the menu so I can’t see them or get to them to customize anything. Help! My sites were hacked and the server uploaded a basic theme so I need to upgrade. I was using the Studio Press Magazine 101 that someone else loaded for me (I’m not tech savy enough to do a lot but can usually customize once I have the theme installed). I don’t like using this one and have tried others but I still keep getting this small customizing menu on the left side so I can’t really customize any of them anymore.

Welcome to the new WordPress theme customiser, which is a recent upgrade to WordPress Core. It should actually preview any changes you make. If not, there may be an issue with your WordPress install.

The customizer won’t let me make any changes. The text and box to upload a header image are under the customizer menu box so I can’t get to them. I have this theme on several and cannot customize them at all. I have changed themes and get the same thing regardless of the theme installed. I have updated all the themes but I need to be able to customize and load my headers back on the sites. I can’t customize anything using the customizer… header, background, colors… nothing because it’s all under the customizer menu.

If this is occurring on all themes, then it’s probably an issue with your WordPress install. You may want to do a clean install of WordPress.

Or check with your host to see if they are doing anything to block this behaviour, since you were hacked.
