Custom Fields For Slideshow?
-
Hi – Nice theme. I’ve modified the theme a bit while doing so had a question re: the slideshow images. I use some autoblog tools which use custom fields in posts to map to product images in off-site URL’s.
Is there a custom field that I can use to pull the images into the slideshow? Or is this possible with a future release?
Thanks.

Currently the slider pulls the Featured Image that is set for that post. See this topic: https://forum.graphene-theme.com/topic/slider-image
Thanks but currently setting the featured image means manually setting it for each post. Sort of defeats the autoblogging bit. I can set it up using Featured Content Gallery plugin but it would have been cool if there was a custom field variable set in the template for post images – I could have hooked into that. Maybe down the road??
Anyways, thanks for your response!

okay, I’ll consider adding this in future version. I guess the easiest way to implement this is to just add an option that will allow the user to specify the custom field variable. If no custom field variable is defined, then don’t use it for the thumbnail in the slider.
I love the slider function, and it works great. However, I would like to use the Featured Gallery Plugin to place an independent featured content slideshow from a post category on a single page. The plugin requires a custom field so that I may input the “articleimg” field with the URL of the image. Since there is no custom field available on the Post, how can I accomplish this? Brian

The Custom Fields are still available for posts, but WordPress hides them by default since version 3.1. When you’re in the Edit Post screen, click on “Screen Options” at the top right corner of the screen. Then, tick the “Custom Fields” checkbox, and the Custom Fields meta box will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
