Hi, I updated to the latest version of Graphene this past weekend and the new posts that I’ve added since then do not have the “Continue Reading” button on the front page but all posts that were made before I updated still have the button. I have done nothing different and could not find any option for that. I read another post in this forum that said “By default, WordPress doesn’t add a Read More link for manual excerpts” but I’m not creating manual excerpts – I don’t even know how to do that yet (newbie). Any idea why the button is not showing since the update? Thank you for any help.
WordPress only adds the continue reading button only if the text content of the post is greater than the allowed word count for the automatic excerpt (which is 55 words by default). That’s why your two new posts don’t have the continue reading button, cause there’s essentially no more text to read.
That makes sense and I feel stupid for not thinking of that. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
