Child Theme not functioning properly

    I just made a child theme for Franz Josef version 1.6.1, but the child theme isn’t displaying properly. For example, the slider arrows are much larger than normal and are stuck at the top of the screen. There are other font issues as well.

    I’m wondering if I somehow set up the child theme incorrectly?

    How I set up the child theme:

    Made a folder called “franz-josef-child” in my themes directory

    put the following files in that folder: functions.php, style.css and screenshot.png

    This is what I put in the functions.php file:

    <?php
    add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_enqueue_styles' );
    function theme_enqueue_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
    }
    ?>

    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    You don’t need to include the screenshot for a child theme.

    Don’t copy over the parent theme stylesheet; instead, only include those items you need to change. Ditto: functions.php. If that’s all your child theme’s functions file includes, you should be okay.

    Please provide a link so that we take a closer look.

    Yes, I know the screenshot is not mandatory. I’m also not simply copying over my parent stylesheet into the child theme’s stylesheet. The Child’s stylesheet is only for modifications… Functions.php file contents were fully displayed in the post.

    Try changing this line:

    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );

    to this:

    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css', array( 'bootstrap', 'font-awesome' ) );
