Hi, is there any way to rename the “Home” link? I’d like to change mine to “Blog,” but I can’t find any way to do this in the menu. I dug around a bit online about how to do this and people seemed to think that this was a function of individual themes rather than WP itself.

This used to be the case before the advent of Custom Menus feature in WordPress 3.0. But not anymore.

You can use the Custom Menus feature to configure your navigation menu. See a good tutorial here:
