Categories strip post of links and images?

Hi, I am pretty new to WordPress and Graphene so I am not sure if this is a problem with one or the other.

On my website I have all the categories setup okay, but when I click on them and it shows me the relevant posts those posts no longer have any of the links or images in the original. All it has is the text.

For instance, I was writing a review for a video game. In the post I include a picture of the game’s front cover and a link to the game’s website. When I click on the “Games” category I made, all that is there is my written description.

A lot of my posts are links to other sites, reviews, or pictures of the review so it sure would be helpful if you could see those links immediately by clicking on the relevant post category. It seems that the category links you to the permalink for the post, but why doesn’t it do this in the first place?

I just don’t get it. Thanks again for the help.

Well, a website URL to see what you are describing would be most helpful.

How are you inserting the image and the links? Are you using HTML or are you using the editor box?

The categories archive page uses excerpts instead of the full content of the posts, and WordPress by default strips all HTML tags from the excerpts.

However, the theme does provide an option to retain HTML tags for excerpts. Go to WP Admin > Appearance > Graphene Options > Display > Excerpts Display Options, and insert the following into the “Retain these HTML tags in excerpts” option:

    <p><a>

That did it. Thank you very much Syahir Hakim.

I’m hesitant to post my site link because the page is so bad lol.

We can help you with that. Everybody who has experience making pretty pages has plenty of experience making ugly ones, too. Been there, done that.
