Bits of translation missing

    I’ve noticed that there are some holes in Polish translation for the Graphene Theme.

    I’ve checked and even edited the po file, but it’s got nothing to do with it. The theme doesn’t even react for changes made to some particular phrases.

    The bits I’ve found missing so far are:

    – “comments” (under posts)

    – “You can specify the image to be displayed as the author’s profile image in the Author’s page. If no URL is defined here, the author’s Gravatar will be used.” (under Graphene-specific User Profile Information)

    – “Please enter the full URL (including http://) to your profile image.” same place.

    Why isn’t the translation for these specific bits getting through?

    It doesn’t take effect if you just edit the .po file. You need to update the .mo file as well. You need to use POEdit or other applications to translate the theme. See Editing existing translationhttp://docs.graphene-theme.com/Translating_the_theme#Editing_existing_translation

    You can also translate strings using child theme – http://www.prasannasp.net/how-to-change-translate-a-string-in-graphene-theme/

    I do use poedit and I did copy out the mo file

    The problem is that the theme doesn’t see ANY translation, regardless to how it’s translated’. It just leaves it english…

    I used the code from your website:

    function graphene_filter_gettext( $translated, $original, $domain ) {
    $strings = array(
    'comments' => 'komentarze',
    );
    if ( ! empty( $strings[$original] ) ) {
    $translations = &get_translations_for_domain( $domain );
    $translated = $translations->translate( $strings[$original] );
    }
    return $translated;
    }
    add_filter( 'gettext', 'graphene_filter_gettext', 10, 3 );

    but the ‘comments’ phrase is still in English… I coudn’t use your technique for the entire sentence from poedit since it leaves me out with an error…
