I also had the problem with my slider that it had just stopped working suddenly.
I read the threads regarding this issue and did the things you suggested (uploaded the jquery tools js file and updated my theme-scripts.php accordingly) and my slider is now working.
Now when I log into WP, on the admin screen I can still see the admin bar at the top of the page, but when I go to the website it is not showing any more.
Is it possible because of modifications I made for the slider to work?
