Adding Adsense and Google Search Bar Question

    Hi,

I’m pretty new to WordPress and just installed Graphene which I like a lot. Thank you for all your hard work. I am wondering about installing adsense, and more specifically, how to control the placement of the ads.

I cut and pasted a code using the “Adsense Options” and got the ads only in the posts. I am hoping to put 250×250 squares in the side bar and also a banner across the top between the navigation bar and posts. Where can I properly place the adsense code to appear in the widget side bar above the archives link?

For the header banner, I checked the widget header option in the appearance menu and tried modifying the code by cutting and pasting it into the style.css under widget header with no success. Got a fatal error so I deleted the addition and everything is back to normal. How and where can I modify the style.css to place the adsense banner above the posts in the widget header area?

And finally, I read a post about modifying the existing search bar for a google search bar. You suggested creating a new searchform.php file, cutting and pasting the google code, and taking some of the existing searchform.php code to maintain the proper format. Can I just add the google code to the existing searchform.php file? If not, how would I go about creating the new file and adding it to the existing code? And what code is necessary to maintain the proper format? Sorry to have so many issues!

Thank you again for all your hard work and help! I am looking forward to learning and becoming more proficient.

    All the best,

Just use the Text widget and add the adsense codes in the widget

Use the Text widget, place it in the Header Widget Area, then position it using CSS

Sounds like you haven’t learned how to make a cihild theme yet. Please read this post first: https://forum.graphene-theme.com/topic/how-to-modify-the-theme-using-a-child-theme

Thank you so much. Placing the adsense using the text widget works great. One last favor to ask is if you could please give me the line number in the CSS to position the adsense banner in the header widget area.

    Thank you again so much!
