Slider – First Image In Post Not Functioning

    Hi,

I am using Graphene 1.6.2 on a WordPress installation. The theme is great except that the slider does not consistently show the first image in post in the slider. I tried it as a global setting and override in the post a new message options. The theme seemed to not be able to take the first image in a post when the theme was installed with existing old content at the site.

I’m not sure how I got the one post to show the image. If I remember correctly, I edited the post by removing the image, updating, putting the image back and updating again. Now the thumbnail shows in the slider. I cannot get it to work at all with a sticky post.

I have kind of the same problem. It selects pictures from other article and posts them in the slider with the wrong article. This is very frustrating.

See my reply on similar question quite some time ago: https://forum.graphene-theme.com/topic.php?id=#post-3857

The link does not take me to a specific post.

Anyway, I have read other questions on this topic to no resolution. I just made another post on a website with Graphene on Monday and the first image in the post does not show in the slider. The same image did show in the slider when used in another post a while back. It is intermittent.

Ah.. sorry, I was replying from the Tapatalk app. Guess the URL to forum posts only work in that app.

    Here’s the working link:

Okay, the instructions say, ” . . . any of the following condition . . .” as in any of the three will get it to work. I had to set all three to get it to work. I did the first one and it showed the image in the “Featured Image” in the sidebar of the edit screen but did not show in the slider. The image showed in the sidebar when I selected to use it as a featured image in the image gallery photo editing options popup. The image finally showed on the slider when I used the custom URL.

Will Graphene ever support using the first image even if it is chosen from the gallery without having to take the extra steps? Or would that cause other problems? It sure would fix other posts that I will have to go back and manually correct now that I have written instructions on how it works.

    Thank you for your help!

Graphene Options >> General Options >> Slider Options

And in the drop-down menu labeled “Slider image”, select “First image in post”.

Probably not, no. This is because in order to do that, we would have to resort to using regex matching to try and figure out the first image in the post. This is both slow and prone to error, so we’re not keen on using that.

The easiest would be to just set the image to be displayed in the slider as the Featured Image. Make sure that you have “Featured image” selected for the “Slider image” option in Graphene Options > Slider Options.

“Make sure that you have “Featured image” selected for the “Slider image” option in Graphene Options > Slider Options.”

Then what is the “First Image In Post” setting used for?

That would cause the slider to use the first image that is uploaded for the post, regardless of whether or not the image is actually used in the post.
