Error message after theme update

I’ve updated Graphene to the latest version and now have this error message on the back-end of the website when I go to the wesbsite home page. The front end view of the website homepage appears as it should.

I have limited techie knowledge and would love it if someone can give me a helping hand with how to go about fixing this problem. I can’t see any of the admin tools on this page where the error is displayed although other pages and dashboard and fortunately unaffected.

    The error message is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function warning_block_shortcode_handler() in babyroutes.co.uk/wp-content/themes/graphene/includes/theme-functions.php on line 303 .

    The website is http://babyroutes.co.uk

    Many thanks!

    Hello babyroutes,

I have noticed the same issue with a new site I am working on.

The problem seems to occur when I have a sidebar widget area enabled for the column mode, but I don’t actually have any Widgets in that area.

For example my page template is “Two columns, sidebar on the right”

I’m supposed to have something in the “Sidebar Widget Area” – even just a blank text widget.

When I don’t have anything I get this error message.

You seem to have resolved this issue on your own, so I suppose this reply is mainly for posterity. 🙂

Site looks good by the way!

    Best of luck!

    Thanks both for your responses.

Archmore: the error only shows up on the back end of the website thankfully, so non-logged in visitors see the homepage as it ought to display. This makes it tricky for others to understand the problem but I’m thankful for small mercies or my website would have been down for over a week now!!

Anonymous: Thanks – I uploaded the plugin and activated but the error message still shows. Incidentally, I have tried Archmore’s idea of activating a widget in the normally blank left hand column of my homepage and this does get rid of the problem. Trouble is, I purposefully left it blank and adding in a widget is not a permanent solution for me. At least it identifies the issue only presents when in three column mode.

Any other ideas out there? Really appreciate your responses and help and hope to get it fixed soon as this is an otherwise ace theme I have really enjoyed using. This problem since the upgrade has me stumped though.

Deactivate all your plugins and see if the problem still exists. If not then activate them again one by one to find out which one is causing the error. Do you have PollDaddy plugin installed? Deactivate it first if that’s the case.

Make sure you hard refresh the site (STRG+F5) when checking if the problem is still there.

Also post the code bit on your line 303 in babyroutes.co.uk/wp-content/themes/graphene/includes/theme-functions.php.

    Hi guys

So the line I have on line 303 is :

    echo warning_block_shortcode_handler( array(), apply_filters( ‘graphene_sidebar_notice’, $html, $sidebar_name ) );

What should I change in it ?

    Thanks
