Hello everyone,
I know the theme includes a helpful search and redirect function – so if an inbound URL to the site is incorrect, it will search for the page and redirect automatically. How can I disable this temporarily?
I made some changes to some of my URLs and titles, and now I am getting duplicate meta descriptions and duplicate title errors in Google webmaster tools. I want to disable the automatic redirect, so that when Google crawls the old URL, it just throws up a ‘not found error’.
Thanks!
If you look at the 404.php file which handles the Not Found error and redirect, a header response of 404 is returned to the client, so there shouldn’t be a problem with search engines and the like.
If you wanna disable it, just rename the file 404.php to some other name.
