That’s because you have deleted the header image and the background is showing through. You need to either upload a header image, or use a different background image. (You could also change the color of the header text.)

Do not use a static front page, and any blog posts you make will automatically appear on the front page. At this point, you haven’t made any blog posts, hence there is no content on your home page—only an empty slider.
