Google analytics code posted to people's FB walls when sharing from my site
-
Hello
I have tried everything to find out how to solve this, but I haven’t been able; I’m frustrated. Help please!
When someone likes or shares my content, they get a messy code containing of my google analytics account. I have deactivated the GA option from the theme but the messy code is still showing up when sharing.
Thanks a lot for your help!
ModNot a Graphene bug, so moved to Support.
If you are talking about this:
Follow @@edukkamx !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");
That’s not Google Analytics code; it looks more like Twitter code that’s coming through.
How are you adding these buttons? Where did you get the code from?
Keep in mind that Facebook has discontinued the use of some of their older buttons, so that may be an issue as well.
Use Meta description on your posts. Remember, FB caches your site description. So, it will take some time to get it work even after adding description.
Thank you Kenneth and Prasanna. The code I’m getting in error is
UA-29205727-1 var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(); _gaq.push(); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘http…
The social plug-in I’m using is Digg Digg but it also happened when using Shareaholic, whih I deleted for I thought it was the one causing the issue but it turned out it wasn’t.
I couldn’t find how to add a meta description in my posts, so I looked it up on the web and found this plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-meta-description/
Do you recommend it? Or should I try other way to add meta descriptions to my posts?
Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.
ModI just use the code I got from AddThis.com and have never had any issues with it. It really is the easy way to go.
Thanks for your support. I removed Google Analytics (GA) code but now it’s showing my twitter account info. I was doing some research and I found that the post meta data is taken from different places (e.g. sidebar, footer, etc.), depending on the theme. So my question now is do you know where does Graphene take posts’ metadata from?
I appreciate your help

I definitely enjoyed every little bit of it,
