Features of the admin panel do not work with NextGen, specifically Add Gallery/Images links are inactive when you click on them, though the url appears valid at the bottom of the browser. I can revert back to a different theme, upload the gallery and revert back and everything works, but I was wondering if there was a simple way to make it work.

It’s likely to be a script issue. Try replacing the content of the theme’s functions.php file with the updated one here: http://graphene.googlecode.com/svn-history/r120/trunk/graphene/functions.php
