Have front page in pretty good shape - static with panes showing post. However, below the slider is a page block I have labeled "Home" so that it would appear on the main menu. I would like to get rid of that block so that only the slider and grid appear below the header. How can I do this?

Use a custom menu to avoid this issue.
Depending on the post or page ID, you can hide this text block via CSS. I forget the exact code, but it's been mentioned several times on this forum. Take a look around and I'm sure you'll find it. If you can't, please post a URL to your site and we can take a closer look.

I found the right code to solve the problem.
Next question. I have disabled comments on the homepage posts. However, I would like to allow comments on the blog page. Can I allow blog comments without them showing up on the homepage?
